Wine Tastings

There is a long history of wine making in PA that started with William Penn. A fun fact, Pennsylvania is 5th in the nation for wine production. Some of the grapes that are at home in the Pennsylvania climate include Veltliner, Cabernet Franc and Teroldego. There are many wineries in and around the Bloomsburg area, with many more within an hour’s drive, there are varietals for nearly every palate. Come sample and enjoy the beautiful vistas of our local wineries.

Antiquing

Antiques, rustic and vintage items await you in Central Pennsylvania. This region is dotted with antiquing opportunities, from very small shops to expansive antique malls. The semi-annual Bloomsburg Antique Show is held at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds the second weekend of March and November. An added bonus, the show is within walking distance of Elmdale Inn Bed and Breakfast. Your perfect find awaits you.

Hiking

A casual stroll, leisurely bike ride or a vigorous hike are all available in the Bloomsburg area. Central Pennsylvania has many scenic vistas perfect for a getaway. Whether you walk, bike or run, we have the spot for you. Montour Preserve and Ricketts Glen State Park are two of the area’s popular destinations.

Water Activities

Located along the Susquehanna River, the area boasts ample opportunities for water sports on the river or its many streams and lakes. Bring your kayak (or rent one) for a paddle or just roll up your pant legs for a relaxing wade in the water. Want to try your hand at fishing? Bring your pole to join the fly fisherman that dot the streams filled with trout. Don't want to get wet? Find a peaceful bank and just enjoy the sights and sounds of the water.

Farm Markets

Bloomsburg is surrounded by agriculture and farming. Nothing is more special than that summer visit to the local farm markets. Fresh tomatoes and corn for a summer picnic, strawberries for a perfect shortcake or sweet apples and cider are all abundant at our local markets. Fall brings beautiful sunflowers, pumpkins and gourds. Our farm markets are always a colorful and tasty experience.
